Teach What Matters - My Personal Manifesto

I want to work in a school that inspires.
I want to work with teachers that work together to become better teachers. I want to work with teachers who see the importance of their role in the history of the community they work in and understand that what they teach is as important as how they teach.
I want to overcome the obstacles that have fragmented school communities by using technology to enhance communication and collaboration. I want to build the capacity of teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms so their students can seize the opportunities that will be available to them in the near future.
I want to work collaboratively with teachers to create an engaging and relevant curriculum grounded in important topics, issues, and current events that matter to students and would greatly increase the level of engagement. Standards can be reached with the multiple goals of academic achievement, economic equality, and environmental justice.
I want to see themes like environmental awareness and conservation become integrated into all science strands while economics, energy conservation, carbon footprints and sustainability become important math themes. This means that teachers will have to develop their understanding of these topics so that they can integrate them into their teaching in a relevant way.

I want to help students understand what is going on around them and provide them with  hope that they can manage their lives in an ever increasingly complex world. I believe that creating a curriculum for understanding and thriving in the world one lives in is the goal of education.
I want to be a role model for what it means to be a lifelong learner by continuing to study and experience the world. I want to use technology to further my goals and be able to help others learn to  do the same. I want to know that my life and work matters and I want other teachers and students to know that their lives can make a difference
I want to continue to be a teacher and I want to teach what matters
